How can I maximise my income to help me with my Energy issue?
You might be able to increase your income by doing things like cliaming benefits/grants, checking you’re paid the right wage, getting help from charities, renting out a room or getting child maintenance.
You can access more detailed information on maximising your income and links to benefit calculators and grant checkers here.
What is the Energy Crisis Support Scheme?
Residents living in Rotherham can apply for the Council’s Energy Crisis Scheme from 18 October 2024. If you are concerned about increasing household bills, the Council’s Energy Crisis Support Scheme may be able to help with a payment of up to £250.
Applicants must have no more than £150 a month left over after paying for all of their essential costs such as food, rent or mortgage and utility bills. The funding is not means tested and residents do not need to be claiming benefits in order to be eligible.
The energy Crisis support scheme is currently closed.

Am I on the best tariff available from my provider?
Switching energy providers is an option to bring down cost of your energy bills, but this would only be applicable if there was a better deal elsewhere. Due to the current energy market, there may not be any deals available but you can contact their existing energy provider to see if you are on the best deal for your circumstances or shop around the market using comparison sites like USwitch.
If you would like more information on energy tariffs or help understanding what to do next, book an appointment with our specialist Energy Adviser using our booking form.
